Five thousand years ago, long before the pyramids of Egypt reached their peak, an extraordinarily sophisticated urban civilization arose in the basin of the Indus River. They built grid-planned cities with standardized brick construction, covered street drains, public baths, and engaged in wide maritime trade across the ancient world.
