Jahangir inherited a stable and wealthy empire from his father, allowing him to focus heavily on the arts, particularly miniature painting and gardens.
His reign is also notable for the profound political influence exerted by his intelligent and capable wife, Empress Nur Jahan, whose family originated from Persia.
Architecture & Relationship to the Region
Jahangir had a deep affection for Lahore and Kashmir. He is buried in the exquisite Tomb of Jahangir in Shahdara Bagh, Lahore, which was commissioned by Nur Jahan.
